Immigration Medicals

Immigration Medicals

Parkhealth Medical provides immigration medicals as one of our services.

Immigration medicals are necessary for each applicant, regardless of age, who wishes to immigrate to another country.

What is the purpose of Immigration Medicals?

In some cases, specific diseases make participants inadmissible to certain countries. Immigration medicals are part of the immigration process and ensure that your application is admissible and meets all of the medical requirements necessary for immigration.

Below are four of the basic medical conditions that may result in an application being inadmissible:

  • Communicable disease of public health significance
  • Failure to show proof of required vaccinations
  • Physical or mental disorder with associated harmful behaviour
  • Drug abuse or addiction

Although the immigration medical exam is not a complete physical exam, its purpose is to screen applicants for medical conditions relevant to the intended country’s immigration law.

Typically, medical examinations include:

  • Medical history
  • Physical examination
  • Chest x-rays
  • Blood tests (syphilis & HIV)

Medical Examination Instructions:

  • Date of the Immigrant Visa appointment
  • Two passport-sized photos and your passport
  • Copies of prior medical records and immunization records
  • TB skin test is required for all children aged 2-14 years
  • X-Rays and Serological tests are not required in cases of children under the age of fifteen years.
  • Women who are pregnant are required to have a medical examination in connection with the issuance of a visa. Extra protection must be provided for the unborn child and mother.
